Missouri State Off to Solid Start at Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Missouri State fired a seven-under 281 in the opening round of the Loyola (Md.) Intercollegiate here Sunday, placing the Bears in seventh place with two rounds to play in the 17-team event.

Joey Johnson's first-round 68 places him tied for eighth place out of the gates with his four-under performance. Meanwhile, Adam Fisher and Kory Franks both shot two-under rounds of 70 on the opening 18 to sit tied for 21st.

Also competing for Missouri State are Mitch Mather who is tied for 52nd (73) and John Fuchs Who is tied for 74th with an 75 on day one in the field of 104 individuals.

Indiana (-17), William & Mary (-13) and UConn (-11) lead the team field, while MSU also sits behind James Madison (-10), Arkansas State (-9) and Seton Hall (-9).

The event will continue Monday and Tuesday with 18 holes slated each day.
