Missouri State (18-9, 11-4 Missouri Valley Conference) closes the regular season with three home games the next two weekends, beginning with a 2 p.m. Saturday contest against Wichita State (7-19, 4-11).
Much remains to be decided in the MVC standings with two week to play, as UNI sits alone in first at 11-3, followed by the Lady Bears in second at 11-4 and Drake and Southern Illinois tied at 10-4.
Missouri State won the season's first meeting with Wichita State, 77-57 on Jan. 30 in Wichita. The Lady Bears pulled away after a five-point halftime advantage, leading by as many as 23 in the fourth quarter and shooting 45 percent for the game.
Series History
Missouri State leads the all-time series 46-35, including a 29-12 mark in Springfield. WSU has won 20 of the last 25 meetings overall.
Scouting Wichita State
Wichita State is 7-19 overall and 4-11 in MVC play. Minnesota transfer Rangie Bessard leads the Shockers with 15.6 points and 7.9 rebounds, and TaQuandra Mike adds 12.2 points while shooting 33 percent from long range. As a team, WSU scores 53.2 points and allows 61.4 while shooting 38.7 percent overall, 28.6 percent on 3-pointers and 71.4 percent from the foul line.
First Meeting This Season
Missouri State won by a 77-57 final on Jan. 30 in Wichita. MSU never trailed in the contest, jumping ahead 15-4 on a Liza Fruendt trey with 3:39 left in the first period.
The Shockers closed within two points on two occasions before MSU took a 36-31 lead into halftime. Seniors scored all 23 points in the third quarter, with Tyonna Snow's spinning layup with 1:59 left pushing the lead to 59-42.
Missouri State led by as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter and shot 50 percent in the second half and 45 percent for the game. The Lady Bears also owned a 35-27 rebounding advantage.
