SPRINGFIELD - The Missouri State cross country team heads to Missouri Southern State's campus to compete in its second race of the season on Saturday (Sept. 19) at 8:30 a.m.

The Bears are led by head coach Jordan Fife, who is in his second season with the program. Fife is looking forward to this weekend's race.

"We are looking forward to getting back out in a race setting and seeing what we are capable of at this point in the season," said Fife. "It looks like we will have great competition and great weather for Saturday's meet. The excitement level is high amongst the members of the team based on our last few workouts so I'm glad we have another opportunity to show how we've been progressing lately."

This will be the second meet of the 2015 season for the Bears. MSU will be one of 26 schools competing in this weekend's 5K race. Some of the schools competing include Arkansas, Dallas Baptist, San Diego, and Missouri Southern Stampede host MSSU.

MSU competed in the Bob Timmons Classic on Sept. 8 at the University of Kansas. The Bears' top finisher, Jessica Allen, was 22nd in competition. Allen was the first Bear to finish at the MVC Championship last fall. Right behind her for the Bears was freshman Jade Raynor, who is one of seven freshmen who joined the squad this season. The course used at the Bob Timmons Classic will also be the course ran at the NCAA Regionals this year.

The Bears have three regular-season meets left this season, including tomorrow's meet, leading up to the MVC Championships in Evansville, Ind. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
