Perfect Game Summer Collegiate All-America Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State senior Sam Perez was recognized for his outstanding body of work with the Sedalia Bombers of the MINK League when Perfect Game USA selected the right-handed pitcher for third-team Summer Collegiate All-America honors on Wednesday.
The Branson, Mo., product allowed just five earned runs in his 42.0 innings of work and issued just 10 walks, while posting four consecutive double-digit strikeout performances and limiting the opposition to a .166 batting average. Perez was named the MINK League's Pitcher of the Year after capturing the league's pitching triple crown by leading the circuit in victories (6), earned run average (1.07) and strikeouts over his six starts for the Bombers. He was the North Division starting pitcher in the MINK League All-Star Game and earned league pitcher of the week honors on three separate occasions.
Coupled with his breakthrough spring campaign for the Bears, Perez went a combined 15-1 on the mound in 2015, logging a 2.45 ERA and 123 K's while issuing just 26 walks over 110.0 innings pitched. He also picked up First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete recognition this spring after going 9-1 with a 3.31 ERA and one save for the Bears, who set a school record with 49 victories.
