DES MOINES, Iowa -- Missouri State track & field competed in the heart of the Drake Relays on Friday, following the heptathlon in the opening two days of the storied meet. MSU participated in three individual races, a team relay, and the long jump on Friday.
The Bears earned a pair of top-10 finishes in the 400m hurdles. Oarabile Babolayi led Missouri State with her time of 59.39, good for seventh overall. Shani Adams came in with a new PR time of 59.74, breaking the minute mark for the first time in her MSU career, and placing ninth.
Babolayi also competed in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 17th with a time of 14.39.
A trio of Bears ran in the 100m dash prelims. Shavonne Husbands was runner-up in her heat, and finished 12th overall in 11.88. Marissa Kurtimah (11.99) and Chelsey Borders (12.20) finished 16th and 23rd, respectively.
Missouri State ran a 3:41.47 in the 4x400m Relay prelims, just off their 2015 Missouri Valley Conference leading time of 3:41.07, to place 12th.
Robiann Broomfield placed 15th in the long jump. In her final attempt, Broomfield jumped 5.68m to move up in the event standings from 18th to 15th.
Broomfield will return to the pit in the final day of competition on Saturday, to compete in the triple jump. The event has a 10 a.m. start time.
