SAN MARCOS, Texas - Junior Ema Turudija won a third-set match tiebreaker at No. 1 singles, but the Missouri State women's tennis team was unable to push through in two other match tiebreakers as the Bears lost to Texas State, 6-1, at the Bobcat Tennis Complex Wednesday, March 11.

Turudija served as the lone winner for the Bears (3-8) against the Bobcats (4-4).

Playing in the No. 1 slot, Turudija dropped a first-set tiebreaker 7-6 (3) and came back to win the second set, 7-5. In a third-set match tiebreaker, the Bears' singles player was able to persevere and win up 11-9. It was her fourth victory of the spring in singles.

The Bears also had two other matches go to third-set match tiebreakers.

Coming into the match riding an eight-match winning streak, MSU freshman Anelisse Torrico Moreno won her first set at No. 4 singles, 6-3. However, Eva Dench of Texas State kept things interesting by forcing a third-set match tiebreaker with a 7-5 second set victory, eventually earning a 10-4 tiebreaker win to end Torrico Moreno's streak.

Bears junior Miranda Poile led at No. 5 singles after taking the first set. In the last match of the dual to be completed, Texas State's Shannon Beckett took the second set and ended the dual with another third-set match tiebreaker win for the Bobcats over Poile, 10-6.

"We keep putting ourselves in positions to win these matches but aren't closing things out," Bears head coach Mallory Weber said. "Every match is helping us get more confidence but until we get more mentally tough, we will continue to struggle in big moments."

Mackenzie Rozell was competitive for the Bears at No. 3 singles, dropping consecutive 6-3 sets to TSU's Pippa Carr. Ekaterina Donetskova and Abbey Belote both fell at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Missouri State also lost at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles for the sixth Bobcats point.

The Bears continue their spring break road trip by traveling to San Antonio to face the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners at the UTSA Tennis Center at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12.
