CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams
SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State football player Shelby Harris (So., Nixa, Mo.) has been selected to the CoSIDA District VI Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Thursday.
Harris is a Cell and Molecular Biology major with a 3.99 grade-point average. On the field, the place kicker is 5-for-5 on extra points this season for the Bears and has seen action in three of the squad's eight games. He currently ranks 10th on the team in scoring and began the season as MSU's top PAT/field goal kicker.
District VI includes all Division I schools from the states of Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
With his All-District selection, Harris now advances to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted upon by a special national panel with winners announced Dec. 3. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
