Missouri State (2-2) heads south for the Thanksgiving holiday for three games in the prestigious Gulf Coast Showcase. The Lady Bears open with 13th-ranked Stanford at 12:30 p.m. Central on Friday, and continue with either Dayton or Maine on Saturday.
Sunday's contest will be against Louisville, LSU, Marist or Purdue, as seven of the eight teams in the field, including MSU, participated in a postseason tournament in 2014-15.
Missouri State alumni in the Southwest Florida area over the holiday are invited to attend a MarooNation event on Friday, Nov. 27, from 5-7 p.m. in the Driftwood Room at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa (5001 Coconut Road, Bonita Springs, Fla.). The gathering will offer an opportunity to meet fellow Bears and learn about Lady Bears basketball from Head Coach Kellie Harper.

Series History
Missouri State is 0-1 against Stanford, falling 74-63 at the Cardinal in December 1993. The Lady Bears defeated Maine, 64-62, in the only meeting in December 1999. MSU has never faced Dayton in women's basketball.
As for the opposite side of the bracket, MSU is 0-2 against Louisville in two meetings that occurred over the last four seasons, 1-1 against LSU, 0-2 versus Purdue including a match-up in the 2001 Final Four, and has not played Marist.

Scouting Stanford
Stanford is ranked 13th in the AP poll and 16th in the Coaches' Poll this week with a 3-1 record. The Cardinal are led by Lili Thompson, who averages 18.3 points and shoots 46 percent from beyond the arc as one of three players who score in double figures. Erica McCall averages 15.8 points and 11.3 points, and the Stanford defense holds opponents to 29 percent shooting while posting percentages of .402 overall, .352 from the arc and .638 from the foul line.

Scouting the Rest of the Field
Dayton went to the Elite Eight last season and is 3-0 with wins over Yale, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin. The Flyers are picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 this year.
Maine is the preseason No. 2 pick in the America East Conference. The Black Bears are 2-2 this year.
Louisville is 0-2 on the year and ranked 22nd in this week's AP poll. The Cardinals lost to Dayton in the Sweet 16 last season.
LSU is 3-2 already this season, including a win at Little Rock. The Tigers are picked to finish ninth in the SEC.
Marist is 0-4 on the year but boasts a pair of preseason first-team all-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference picks and was chosen to finish second in that league in 2015-16.
Purdue is 3-0 this season, outscoring its three opponents by an average of 17.7 points per game.
