Nov. 23, 2015

Final Stats

SPRINGFIELD -- Oklahoma State closed each quarter on scoring runs of five points or better Monday night for a 74-55 victory over the Missouri State Lady Bears at JQH Arena.

Tyonna Snow led the Lady Bears (2-2) with 14 points and four steals, and Aubrey Buckley added 10 points for her second career game in double figures. Oklahoma State (4-0) All-American Brittney Martin had 35 points and 14 boards, and Roddricka Patton set an arena record with 15 assists for the Cowgirls.

The Cowgirls made four of their first five shots to lead 8-2 and never trailed in the game. MSU pulled to 12-10 on a Lexi Hughes 3-pointer with 3:12 left in the first quarter, but OSU scored the final five points for a 17-10 lead.

Snow scored six points in 50 seconds to open the second period before Danielle Gitzen's free throw made it a one-possession game at 22-19 with 7:25 left until halftime. MSU then went nearly four minutes without scoring, but stayed within striking distance as Aubrey Buckley converted a bucket and the free throw for a 29-26 deficit with 1:43 to play. Oklahoma State finished strong, however, going into intermission on a 7-0 run for a 36-26 lead.

The Lady Bears opened the second half on an 8-0 run after consecutive Snow baskets, and trailed 38-36 after two Snow free throws with 7:29 to play before the Cowgirls broke the game open with a 17-3 run to lead 55-39 after three quarters.

Missouri State got as close as 62-51 with 4:55 to play in the game, but back-to-back Martin jumpers pushed OSU's lead back to 15.

Oklahoma State finished 30-for-66 (.455) overall and owned a 52-30 rebounding edge. MSU shot 29.5 percent overall, but made 16 free throws in 21 tries, with Snow hitting six to pass Tahnee Balerio for ninth in school history with 337 career makes.

The Lady Bears head to the Gulf Coast Showcase this weekend for three games in Southwest Florida. MSU opens at 12:30 p.m. Friday against 13th-ranked Stanford at Germain Arena in Estero.
