LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Missouri State cross country team raced seven at the NCAA Midwest Regional here on Friday for the 31st time in program history and first time since 2011. Senior Cindy Forde led the Bears finishing 91st in a field of 223 runners, while MSU earned a 30th overall finish at the 6-kilometer meet at the Rim Rock Farm.

Head coach Jordan Fife feels like the regional meet was a good experience for his young squad.

"It was a good experience for our team to get back to the regional meet and see the types of teams we are aspiring to be like," said Fife. "We made a lot of progress this season and we are excited to carry that over to track."

Leading the Bears this season has been MSU senior standout Cindy Forde, who finished her 5K career with a personal best of 17:14.91 at the Missouri Valley Conference championship two weeks ago. After posting that time, Forde is now the second-fastest 5K runner at MSU.

In Friday's 6K race, Forde recorded a 91st-place finish for the Bears posting a time of 22:05.6. With her time, she etches her name in the MSU record book as the 19th-fastest 6K runner in program history.

Four Bears - Alyson Jones (24:01.2), Jade Raynor (24:03.0), Savannah Beaver (24:10.6), and Tenaly Smith (24:58.2) - finished the race in less than 25 minutes. With today's time, Smith ends her senior cross country season with a personal best as teammate Beaver joins her in picking up her own.

Rounding out the rest of the Bears' competitors in today's race were Megan Nickles (25:32.4) and Mercedes Robinson (27:02.6).
