Men's Golf Eighth After 36 Holes at ULM

The Missouri State men's golf team is eighth of 14 teams after 36 holes at the ULM/Wallace Jones Invitational in Calhoun, La. The Bears carded 309-312--621 on Monday (Apr. 8) at the par 72, 6822-yard Calvert Crossing layout at Southern Pines Golf Club.

Freshman Joey Johnson led the Bears with 75-77--152 and is tied for 17th after the first day. Freshman Mitch Mather was next for MSU after shooting 78-78--156 to place him in a tie for 35th. Junior Nick Langley is tied for 42nd with 79-79--158, while junior Eric Straub and freshman Brik Brauburger are tied for 48th with 160 totals. Straub carded 82-78 while Brauburger had 77-83.

UMKC and Sam Houston State are tied for the team lead at 606. Houston Baptist is third at 613, followed by Oklahoma City (614), Texas-Pan American (616), Northeastern State (618), New Orleans (620), the Bears, Nebraska-Omaha (622) and Louisiana-Monroe (625) rounding out the top 10.

Tuesday's final round is slated for an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
