Missouri State's Joey Johnson has been named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after a standout showing Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 25-26) at the Snowman Getaway in Goodyear, Ariz.

The freshman from Ozark, Mo., carded seven birdies while firing a four-under-par 68 in the final round to vault into a sixth-place finish. He opened with 74-72 on Monday to finish with a 214 total, two under for 54 holes at Palm Valley Golf Club. The Bears finished eighth in the team race.

Johnson is ranked ninth in the Valley with a 74.57 scoring average and has been remarkably consistent in his first collegiate season, posting a top-15 finish in five of seven tournaments.
