Meet Notes
• The Missouri State cross country team competes in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Blank Golf Course Saturday with the race scheduled for an 11:30 a.m., start.
• The Bears were picked to finish 10th in this year's event with 13 points in a pre-championship coaches' poll released this week. Bradley (six first-place votes, 93 points) and Illinois State (four first-place votes, 89 points) were chosen as the two favorites to claim the championship.
• Missouri State has won the MVC title six times overall with the last championship coming in 2004. MSU scored just 38 points in that championship event.
• The Bears finished ninth in 2012 with 213 points, beating out Creighton (262), while Illinois State won the championship with 42 points.
• Sophomore Taeler Marshall had the top finish of the returner Bears in last year's championship. Marshall was 58th overall in 19:31.
