SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Fresh off of a three-game sweep of Creighton to open Missouri Valley Conference play, the Missouri State Bears secured their first regular-season top 30 ranking in nearly three years Monday when they were tabbed 29th in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division I Baseball Poll. MSU also earned 30 votes in this week's USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll, good for 30th among all Division I programs.
For the Bears, who were ranked 31st in Collegiate Baseball's preseason poll, Monday's citation marks their first regular-season ranking since holding the No. 30 spot in the same poll the week of May 18, 2009.
Missouri State has been ranked in Collegiate Baseball's top 30 poll on 11 previous occasions: May 18, 2009 (28th), April 20, 2009 (30th), June 9, 2003 (8th), June 2, 2003 (14th), May 27, 2002 (28th), April 15, 2002 (25th), April 8, 2002 (27th), June 21, 1999 (27th), June 7, 1999 (27th), May 31, 1999 (27th) and April 12, 1999 (26th).
Currently riding a season-best seven game win streak, the Bears (19-6, 3-0 MVC) are back in action Tuesday (March 27) evening with a 6:30 p.m. non-conference matchup against Kansas (10-13, 0-3 Big 12) at Hammons Field.
