JOPLIN, Mo. -- Due to lightning and continuous rainfall on Saturday, the Missouri State cross country squad was unable to hit the course at the 23rd annual Missouri Southern Stampede.
The event was cancelled for the first time ever after approximately two inches of rain fell in Joplin throughout the morning and early afternoon.
The meet would have been the second competition of the year for the Bears, but they will now have to wait until the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Oct. 1 to return to action.
