SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - An already outstanding summer of golf has gotten even better for Missouri State's Catherine Dolan. The senior-to-be from Ballwin, Mo., rallied to post a two-stroke victory Thursday (July 14) at the Missouri Amateur Championship at Bellerive Country Club in suburban St. Louis.
Dolan fired her second consecutive one-under-par 71 to come from behind and post a two-stroke victory over Kayla Eckelkamp, who shot 67 Thursday. Dolan entered the final round trailing defending champion Ellen Port by three shots, but took control early, getting to as much as three under for the day while Port was on her way to a 78. Dolan shot 77-71-71--219 for the 54-hole tournament, two better than Eckelkamp and four ahead of Port.
Already this summer, Dolan has advanced to the final 16 at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and finished second at the Metropolitan Amateur in St. Louis.
