Missouri State assistant coaches David Stockton and Josh Ganson have resigned from their respective positions with the soccer programs. Stockton was a men's soccer assistant coach and women's soccer goalkeeping coach and Ganson was a women's soccer assistant coach. Stockton has accepted an assistant coaching position at another institution, while Ganson has taken a position in the private sector.
Stockton recently completed his third season on the men's soccer coaching staff and was involved in all facets of the program. His specialty of training goalkeepers helped to land former Bear Alex Riggs a pro contract with the MLS Columbus Crew. In his tenure as a coach on the men's staff, the Bears went 27-22-10 with a 14-3-4 record in the MVC. Stockton's leadership helped the MSU men's team tie a school record in 2010 by allowing just 14 goals on the season.
He joined the women's soccer staff this season and helped the team to a 10-win campaign for the third time in five seasons. Under his tutelage, goalkeeper Jessica Teahan recorded a career high 11 saves in the MVC Tournament semifinals against Illinois State and made four saves during the shootout.
Stockton came to Missouri State from Midwestern State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree while playing four seasons. He was named to the All-Midwest Region first team as a goalkeeper in 2004.
Ganson spent two seasons on the women's soccer staff helping the team compile a 19-12-6 record during his tenure. While of staff, Ganson aided in the resurgence of the women's program which finished second in the MVC each season.
Ganson came to Missouri State from William Woods University where he spent three seasons as the women's soccer head coach and doubled as the men's head coach for two seasons.
"Dave was a tremendous help to us during his time here," said women's head coach Rob Brewer. "Jessica Teahan has been the first-team All-MVC goalkeeper the last two seasons and Dave was a big part of that. Josh helped us continue to get better as a team over the past two seasons with runner-up finishes in the conference. I am thankful for their time with us and wish them the best in their future endeavors."
A search for their replacements has begun.
