CARBONDALE, Ill. - The track and field Bears may have been ready for the outdoor season to begin, but the weather was not as heavy rain and lightning in the area caused the SIU Spring Classic to be canceled after only seven events were completed.

The meet is not considered official, and the remainder of the meet will not be rescheduled.

The Bears will try to open their outdoor season Saturday, April 2, at the Razorback Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
