The Missouri State men's golf team shot a second-round 298 Monday (Mar. 14) and jumped from seventh to a tie for third at the Louisiana Tech Bulldog Classic in Choudrant, La. The Bears enter Tuesday's final round just a stroke out of second at 296-298--594 and tied with Southeastern Louisiana.
Middle Tennessee State is running away with the team race after posting 278-300--578 through 36 holes. The host Bulldogs are second with 285-308--593, then MSU and Southeastern Louisiana are third, followed by Jacksonville State and Southern Mississippi (600), South Alabama (602), Rice (606), Texas State (608), Arkansas-Little Rock (613), McNeese State (615) and Stephen F. Austin (625).
Junior Jordan McLaurin leads the Bears with 71-74--145 and a tie for fifth, just two shots from the lead, with sophomore Daily Young next for MSU in a 15th-place tie after carding 75-74--149. Junior Will Hogan is tied for 22nd after posting 74-76--150, with senior Matt Cermak next at 79-74--153 and tied for 36th. Senior Jack Courington is tied for 40th after shooting 76-78--154. The MTSU trio of Jason Millard, Hunter Green and Brad Simons are tied for the 36-hole lead with one-under-par 143 totals.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start.
