The Missouri State Lady Bears (8-3, 1-0 Missouri Valley Conference) continue league play Saturday afternoon at defending conference champion UNI (7-5, 0-1) with a 2 p.m. showdown between the two teams picked to finish atop the MVC standings.
The Lady Bears won their Valley opener 79-70 at Bradley while UNI fell 67-40 at home to Wichita State, and Saturday's matchup will serve as a rematch of the 2011 MVC Tournament title game won by the Panthers.
Missouri State hosts Creighton and Drake on Jan. 5 and 7 before hitting the road for three more conference games as the Lady Bears open the league slate with five of their first seven games away from JQH Arena.
Series History
Missouri State owns a 45-18 lead in the series with UNI but has lost the last three meetings. MSU is 17-13 in Cedar Falls, including a 2-2 mark under Coach Milleson with wins in 2008 and 2010.
Scouting UNI
UNI is 7-5 overall and opened MVC play Thursday with a 67-40 home loss to Wichita State. The reigning MVC champs have lost three games in a row after a 7-2 start and average 65.2 points compared to 60.6 for the opposition.
K.K. Armstrong (11.9), Rachel Madrigal (11.7) and Katelin Oney (11.4) provide the bulk of the Panther offense that shoots .409 overall, .309 on three-pointers and .744 from the foul line.
Opponents shoot .417 overall and .315 from long range against the Panthers, who force nearly 20 turnovers per game.
