Volleyball Adds Three Players for 2012

SPRINGFIELD -- The Missouri State volleyball program received commitments this week from a trio of prep standouts, head coach Melissa Stokes announced Friday (Nov. 11). Simone House, Kinsey McCarter and Kailey Riegel will join the Bears as freshmen for the 2012 season.

Simone House ? 6-1 ? MB/RS ? Oshkosh, Wis. ? North High

A four-year starter for Oshkosh North High in Wisconsin, House is a two-time all-conference performer for the Spartans who is completing her prep career this fall. Her father, Michael, played football at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Kinsey McCarter ? 6-1 ? S ? Springfield, Mo. ? Kickapoo High

The younger sister of current MSU redshirt freshman Courtney McCarter, Kinsey was a second-team all-state selection as a senior for the Kickapoo Volleychiefs that went 25-3 and achieved a No. 7 state ranking. McCarter accumulated 309 assists, 197 points and 157 kills in 64 sets as a junior, and had 225.5 points as a sophomore while leading the team with 283 assists in 64 sets. She earned all-conference honors four times, all-district honors three times, all-region honors twice and an honorable mention all-state nod following her junior season. Her grandfather Larry McCarter (1961-63) and great uncle Jerry McCarter (1959-61) played basketball at Missouri State, and great uncle Cliff Johnson was a tennis player from 1970-73.

Kailey Riegel ? 5-4 ? DS ? Kearney, Mo. ? Kearney High

The full-time libero the past four seasons at Kearney High northeast of Kansas City, Riegel's teams posted a combined 96-42 record with two Suburban Small Six conference titles during her career. She scooped a school-record 1,276 career digs and owns the Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 6 single-season dig totals in school history as well as the No. 5 spot in career aces with 145. Riegel earned two first-team all-conference honors, two second-team all-conference nods, two first-team all-district selections, one second-team all-region honor, and one academic all-state selection during her career. Her club team, Invasion 17 Black, finished third at the 2011 USA 17 Open Championships after claiming the 16 American Division national title in 2010.
