ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State swimmer Anna Ahlin has been named Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday in its weekly swimming & diving release. The award is Ahlin's first career weekly honor.
In Missouri State's meet against defending NCAA Division II national champion Drury, Ahlin began the meet with a spark. She helped lead the Bears to a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, while breaking her own pool record in the 100 backstroke with the 57.91 lead-off split.
The sophomore from Stockholm, Sweden, recorded a season-best in the 200 freestyle and then capped off the night with a victory in the 200 backstroke (2:04.25). She won handily as her closest competitor was 3.5 seconds behind.
Ahlin's times in the 100 and 200 back rank first in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Bears, who are now 2-0 in dual meet competition, return to action Friday, November 4 with a meet against Lindenwood at 5 p.m. at Hammons Student Center.
