Senior goalkeeper Jessica Teahan continued her dominance in net for the Missouri State women's soccer team (8-3-1, 2-0-0) and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the second straight week. Freshman defender Kelsey Fouch earned MVC Newcomer of the Week honors as well.
Teahan continues to be a brick wall in net for the Bears. She made eight saves in another 1-0 Bears' win, this time over conference foe Illinois State. Teahan has recorded shutouts in three-straight matches and has a Valley-leading five shutouts this season. In four career matches against Illinois State, Teahan has allowed the Redbirds just one goal in 400 minutes of play.
Fouch has been spectacular in her first season as a defender for the Bears. On Friday, she shut down a potent Illinois State offense, helping the Bears to a third-consecutive shutout. She also cleared an Anna Stinson shot off the end line in the 65th minute to preserve the shutout. Fouch has started all 12 matches at right back and has added two assists, generated mainly by her speed through the midfield.
Missouri State will wrap up a three-game home stand against Drake on Friday, Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. The Bears will then face non-conference opponent SIU Edwardsville on the road on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1:00 p.m. before returning to conference play at Creighton on Oct. 15 (4:30 p.m.).
