Chippewas Chip Away at the Field Hockey Bears

The Missouri State(3-7) field hockey squad was not able to overcome Central Michigan(4-5) as they fell 4-0 in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. today, Oct. 1. The Bears fall to 0-3 in conference play after the loss.

Missouri State came out strong but Central Michigan would strike just six minutes into play off a goal from Bailey McKeon. From then on the Bears would struggle to get back on track. The Chippewas would find the back of the net once more in the half, going into halftime on top 2-0 over the Bears.

From there on it would be a downhill fo the Bears. Central Michigan would go on to knock in two more goals in the second half, bringing the final score to 4-0 over Missouri State. Bears' goalkeeper Katie Mulloy would tally six saves and four goals allowed for the match. The Missouri State offense would get to the goal eight times but fail to execute on the final step. "If you play your game with skill, desire and confidence, no one can beat you. But we didn't have that today", said assistant coach Erika Dombkowski.

The Bears have a chance for redemption tomorrow as they face Central Michigan in the second match of a doubleheader in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Game time is slated for 11 a.m. CT.
