The Missouri State women's golf team has earned national recognition for its performance in the classroom last season from the National Golf Coaches Association. The Bears' posted a 3.636 team GPA for the 2009-10 academic year to rank eighth in the nation across all divisions in the NGCA All-Scholar Team Award and move up from no. 24 nationally a year ago.
The nine-member squad for 2009-10 consisted of Amy Bowen, Emma Clegg, Catherine Dolan, Hermine Greyling, Emily Matthews, Emily Potts, Stacey Rodger, Heather Smith and Kelsey Welber. Seven of the nine were members of the Dean's List (3.5 GPA or better) at least one semester and five earned a 4.0 GPA at least one semester. Welber and Smith received individual NGCA All-American Scholar honors last month.
Indianapolis claimed the top team award with a 3.752 mark with Drury ranking second and Gustavus Adolphus third. Indiana State of the Missouri Valley Conference was fourth while Wichita State, also of the Valley, tied for 13th.
