Cross Country Squad Earns National Academic Award

Missouri State was honored by the USTFCCCA on March 5. The Bears were named an all-academic team for their efforts in the classroom during the 2009 campaign. The team finished the year with a 3.81 GPA, which is the second-best team GPA in the nation. Alabama was the top team in the country with their GPA of 3.86.

This annoucement comes a week after the USTFCCCA named sophomore Terry Phillips an academic all-American. Phillips is a biochemistry major who has a 4.0 GPA. Phillips was also named a Scholar-Athlete of the week by the Missouri Valley Conference. Freshmen Ashton Stubbs and Emily Beaver also finished the year with 4.0 GPAs. Senior Stacey Nelson just missed a 4.0, but will graduate with a 3.94 GPA in Communication Sciences and Disorder.
