Missouri State's Kelsey Welber has been named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after leading her team at last week's Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz.  A sophomore from Plano, Texas, she picked up the first weekly honor of her career after tying for ninth in the 96-player field by shooting 76-76-72--224. 

Welber's one-over-par 72 on the final day Sunday (Mar. 7) was the tournament's best on a rain-soaked afternoon that saw the Bears shoot 308 as a team and move up two spots to finish seventh of 18 teams.  Welber was an all-conference performer as a freshman a year ago and currently is ranked ninth in the Valley with a 77.50 scoring average.
