ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State senior linebacker
Antoine Wilkinson (Magnolia, Miss.) was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Sunday, for his role in helping the Bears earn their first shutout win since 2004.
Wilkinson posted a game-high 15 tackles in Saturday's 3-0 win over No. 17 North Dakota State to help the MSU cap a perfect 5-0 season at Plaster Field. The victory over NDSU, which made the 20-team NCAA Division I Football Playoffs, was the team's third win over a top 25 opponent during the 2010 campaign.
Wilkinson also recorded a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss in the victory over the Bison. His efforts helped the Bears post their first perfect season at Plaster Field since 1992. The Buck Buchanan Award Watch List standout also reached the century mark in total tackles for the second straight season.
