The Missouri State women's golf team was one of the top programs in the nation in the classroom for the 2008-09 season, according to the National Golf Coaches Association. The Bears posted a 3.53 team grade point average to rank 24th nationally among all divisions in NCAA women's golf.
The nine-member team for 2008-09, coached by Kevin Kane, included (l-r in photo) Stacey Rodger, Emily Potts, Catherine Dolan, Heather Smith, Emily Matthews, Lindsey Wellenstein, Amy Phalajivin, Mallory Mahon and Kelsey Welber. Five of the nine were members of the Dean's List (3.50 GPA or better) and five also posted a 4.00 GPA at least one semester. The team received a similar honor in 2004-05, ranking 16th nationally.
Idaho claimed the top spot in this year's ranking with a 3.78 GPA, with Southwestern ranking second and South Alabama third. Five of the 10 Missouri Valley Conference teams were recognized in the top 25 with Bradley placing eighth, Wichita State 13th, Indiana State 21st, Illinois State 22nd and the Bears 24th.
