The Missouri State men's golf team shot 300-291--591 Monday (Oct. 19) and is tied for 11th place after 36 holes of the F&M Bank/APSU Intercollegiate in Clarksville, Tenn. The Bears were 12th in the 17-team field after the morning round, but moved up a spot in the afternoon.
Towson holds a slim lead in the team race entering the final round after firing 292-283--575, just a stroke better than Eastern Kentucky and Oakland. Western Illinois is fourth at 579, followed by Austin Peay State at 580, Jacksonville State 583, Murray State 585, Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech 588, and Northern Illinois rounding out the top 10 with 590. The Bears and Morehead State are next at 591, with SIU-Edwardsville 592, Tennessee State 594, Belmont 600, UT Martin 602 and Lipscomb 630.
Sophomore Will Hogan paced MSU by shooting 74-71--145, good for a tie for 17th. Next came sophomore Jordan McLaurin, who's tied for 31st after carding 72-75--147. Senior Jay McBride and junior Jack Courington are tied for 53rd with 150 totals; McBride shot 76-74 and Courington 79-71. Senior Ryan Weinhaus is tied for 72nd after shooting 78-76--154. Oakland's Jakob Ziegler leads the medalist race with 72-66--138, one better than Towson's Nyasha Mauchaza, who had 71-68.
The final round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday.
