Missouri State cross country travels to Stillwater, Okla., this Saturday to compete in the Cowboy Jamboree. The Bears will be paced by Pasca Cheruiyot, who set a course record (17:46.90) in the Missouri State Classic on September 20. Jamie Vest and Terry Phillips, who finished second and third, respectively, at the Missouri State Classic, hope to help the Bears to another victory over conference-rival Wichita State.
The Cowboy Jamboree will feature a very competitive field of other regionally-ranked women’s squads. Included in the field are Indiana (12th, Great Lakes region), Kansas (12th, Midwest region), Kansas State (6th, Midwest region), Miami University (OH) (6th, Great Lakes region), Northern Arizona (4th, Mountain region), Oklahoma State (7th, Midwest region), Texas State (11th, South Central region), Texas Tech (5th, Mountain region), Texas-Arlington (12th, South Central region), and Wichita State (9th, Midwest region).
Missouri State’s cross country team moved up to 8th in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Midwest regional rankings. The Bear catapulted past in-state rival Missouri (11) and Iowa State, now ranked outside of the Top 15.
The Bears also continue to be ranked ahead of other Missouri Valley Conference schools Wichita State (9th), Southern Illinois (13th), Northern Iowa (14th), and Illinois State (15th). Minnesota continues as the top-ranked women’s team in the Midwest Region.
