Former Missouri State golf standout Matt Sullivan has qualified for a Nationwide Tour event and will turn professional next month. Sullivan, a Jonesboro, Ark., native, won the sponsor's exemption tournament for the Price Cutter Charity Championship last Tuesday (June 24), firing a 67 to top the field and earn a spot in the tournament, which will be held July 17-20 at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield. Sullivan told the Springfield News-Leader he plans to use the tournament to launch his professional career.
He was a four-year letterman for the Bears from 2003-07 and earned all-conference honors his final two seasons. His senior year, Sullivan set the school scoring average record with a 73.47 mark for the year.
