Linnens voted to academic all-district team

Missouri State golfer Missy Linnens has been voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.  A senior from Wichita, Kan., Linnens will now be on the Academic All-America ballot to be voted on by CoSIDA members and announced in June.  

Linnens completed her collegiate career last month by being named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Year after leading the league with a 76.07 scoring average.  She was a three-time all-conference selection and MVC co-medalist in 2006.  She also was a three-time Valley Scholar-Athlete First Team selection and was named an All-American Scholar by the National Golf Coaches Association as a junior.  She graduated May 16 with a 3.77 grade-point average while majoring in marketing.

To be eligible for ESPN The Magazine academic honors, a student-athlete must be a sophomore in academic standing, have a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average or better, and be a major contributor to their team.

District 7 includes NCAA Division I schools in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado and Montana. Sports included in the At-Large category are skiing, golf, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, water polo, fencing, rifle, field hockey, crew, and bowling.
