Clubb named Valley Pitcher of the Week

Missouri State sophomore righthander Tim Clubb has been named this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Clubb upped his record to 7-0 by tossing seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball against Illinois State on Friday. He retired the first 12 Redbirds he faced before allowing a walk and a double to begin the fifth.

The righty worked out of that jam unscored upon on his way to 10 strikeouts, his second consecutive double-figure performance. In his seventh and final inning, Clubb struck out the side to keep the shutout intact.

Clubb ranks first in the MVC with 71 innings pitched and second with 68 strikeouts, and is the first Missouri State pitcher to win his first seven decisions of the season since reliever Andrew Jefferson in 2002.
