The Missouri State field hockey team lost to Indiana University 8-0 Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio. The Bears drop to 1-8 while Indiana improves to 5-4. Indiana is now 2-1 against Mid-American Conference teams this season, only losing to Ball State on Sept. 8, 2-0.
Indiana's Haley Funk led with three goals, Katie Kiper put two in, while Margie Stole, Danita Castro and Kate O'Connell scored one goal each against the Bears' goalkeepers. O'Connell added two assists.
Goalkeeper Kim Kinsella allowed three goals and collected nine saves in the first half while Jessica Schuster allowed five goals with two saves in the second half. Kinsella has made 88 saves in nine games and has an .800 save percentage.
Senior Melissa Millin led the team with five shots with two on goal against Indiana, while sophomore Molly Busch earned her first defensive save of the season, bringing the Bears team total to six.
The Bears will play at Ohio State Sunday Sept. 23 at noon.
