Arkansas tops Missouri State 1-0 in Double Overtime

Arkansas’s Lindsay Patterson scored the game-winning goal in less than two minutes into the second overtime togive the Lady Razorbacks a 1-0 victory over the Missouri State women’s soccer team, Friday, in Fayetteville, Ark. The loss drops Missouri State to 4-4 overall, while Arkansas improves to 6-2 on the season.

Laura Galati led the offense for the Bears, posting three shots, two on goal. Allison Osmundson and CarolineSweeney combined for six shots, giving the Bears 10 total in the match. The Lady Backs’ offense fi red 14 shots, five on goal. Missouri State’s keeper Jackie Jasper recorded four saves and Arkansas’s Britni Williams had five.

In the first overtime period, Missouri State blasted two shots, but was unable to put the ball between the pipes.Defensively, the Bears allowed Arkansas only one shot in the 10-minute period.

Scoreless in over 100 minutes of action, the second overtime was unfortunate for MSU as Arkansas’s Patterson wasted little time ending the contest with less than two minutes into the period. Jasper and Arkansas’s Kelly O’Connor chased a loose ball at the top of the penalty area where Patterson received the rebound and fired a shot from 20 yards into an open net.

Missouri State will be back in action Sunday, September 23 when they will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to challengethe University of Tulsa at 1:00 p.m.
