Missouri State field hockey lost to former NorPac rival the University of Pacific Tigers, 3-1, Friday afternoon in Stockton, Calif. The loss drops the Bears to 0-2, while it was the first win for the Tigers (1-2).
The Bears held the Tigers scoreless in the first half, but the Pacific broke the tie at 36:08 with a goal by Kim Keyawa off an assist by Melody Demel. Missouri State answered at 41:38 off a penalty corner by junior Amanda Miyashita, assisted by senior Melissa Millin.
Pacific came back with two goals, one at 59:22 by Katy McDonough, with a second assist from Demel, and at 62:44 by Ashley Niccum, with help from Brianna Cummins and McDonough.
Senior goalkeeper Kim Kinsella collected 14 saves, taking her young season total to 26.
The Bears continue their west coast swing with a match against Stanford on Saturday at 4 p.m. Missouri State will play California on Mon., Sept. 3 at noon.
