Missouri State field hockey picked sixth in MAC

The Mid-American Conference has announced its 2007 Field Hockey Coaches Preseason Poll with the Missouri State Bears picked for a sixth place finish this season. Ohio University was chosen to win the regular season and defend its tournament title. Ball State, Central Michigan, Kent State and Miami filled in the gap at second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Bears have three key seniors returning, including two-time NCAA statistical leader in saves per game (10.5) and save percentage (.816) goalkeeper Kim Kinsella, Melissa Millin who recorded six goals and two assists at the midfield position, and fellow midfielder Whitney Barrett.

Head coach Dawn Porter (70-102-0) starts her 10th season as the leader of the MSU field hockey team. The Bears open the season at Saint Louis University on Aug. 28 at noon.
