The Missouri State University Board of Governors has approved basketball coaching contracts for new Missouri State women’s head coach Nyla Milleson, associate head coach Trish Marsh and assistant coach Carly Stubblefield.
Milleson will have a five-year contract which runs through June 30, 2012, while Marsh and Stubblefield have one-year contracts. The actions were approved by the board in a closed session at its Tuesday (April 17) meeting based on recommendations from athletics and university administrators. According to the Missouri Open Meetings, Open Records law, actions taken in closed session must be reported within 72 hours of the signing of contracts. Tuesday’s vote on the contracts by the Executive Committee of the board was 3-0.
Milleson’s starting salary is $115,000. She receives guarantees of $30,000 each for a television show and a radio show, a number of other achievement payments and regular and additional University benefits. Marsh will be paid a starting salary of $60,000 and Stubblefield’s salary will be $40,000.
Milleson will take over the reins of the Missouri State program after having posted a 185-36 record in the first seven seasons from when she established the women’s basketball program at Springfield’s Drury University. Prior to that, she was head coach at Springfield Glendale High School for seven seasons. Marsh was Milleson’s top assistant throughout the 14 years at Glendale and Drury, while Stubblefield has been on the Drury staff for the past two seasons.
