The Missouri State women's golf team captured the team title Tuesday (Mar. 20) at the Diablo Grande Intercollegiate in Patterson, Calif. The Bears survived less than ideal weather conditions in the final round to post a come-from-behind win, their second of the 2006-07 season and first of the spring. They shot 312-318-334--964 to beat Bradley and Wichita State by 10 strokes and host Drake, which shot 1017.
Drake's Olivia Lansing won medalist honors after shooting 76-73-78--227, two strokes better than MSU's Missy Linnens and her 76-75-78--229. Sophomore Amy Phalajivin finished sixth overall and second for the Bears by notching 75-81-87--243 and senior Sally Hinton tied for eighth with 79-81-84--244. Freshman Stacey Rodger posted 82-82-85--249 to place 12th while sophomore Lindsey Wellenstein was 15th with 86-81-92--259.
The Bears return to action Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 26-27) at the UALR Classic in Hot Springs, Ark.
