Missouri State senior goalkeeper Lance Parker has been tabbed a first-team selection on the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Men’s Soccer Team. MSU sophomore midfielder Johannes Demarzi was an honorable mention selection.
It’s the second consecutive year in which Parker, an Oklahoma, City, Okla. native, has received the honor. A conference standout in goal for the Bears the past two seasons, Parker maintains a 3.67 GPA as a general business major. On the field Parker made 134 saves and allowed just 26 goals this season for a goals against average of 1.25.
Parker was recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII first team for the second consecutive year. He was named the league’s defensive player of the week on October 1, then tabbed as the MVC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, October 4. Parker finished his Missouri State career as a two-time All-MVC second team selection.
Demarzi maintains a 3.43 GPA as a poitical science major at MSU. The Carmichael, Calif. native started all 20 contests for the Bears this season, finishing second in points (12) on five goals and two assists. He led the team in shots taken (40) and shots on goal (17).
