The Mid-American Conference announced Monday the 2007 field hockey post season tournament bracket, which slated the sixth-seeded Bears to play the third seed and host Miami University in game two on Nov. 1 at 2:30 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.
Game one will be at noon between the fourth and fifth seeds, Central Michigan and Ball State. Top seed No.15 Ohio will play the winner of the Central Michigan-Ball State game and No. 2 seed Kent State will play the winner of Missouri State-Miami game on Nov. 2. The championship game will be at noon on Nov. 3.
The Bears wrapped up the regular season on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Ball State to finish 2-18 for the season, 1-9 in MAC play. Senior Melissa Millin scored her fourth goal of the season, while sophomore Melissa Lantz scored her second.
The Bears' other win was also at home over Robert Morris, 1-0, on Sept. 16. The game-winning goal was supplied by Amanda Miyashita, who has tallied three for the Bears this season.
Senior goalkeeper Kim Kinsella finished the season with 224 saves between the pipes while allowing 59 goals totaling at .792 save percenage. Kinsella is number one in the country in saves per game (10.94) in 17 games through Oct. 21. Junior Sandy Fulkerson leads with seven of the Bears' 10 defensive saves in the regular season.
The Bears lost both games against Miami this season, 9-1 on Oct. 7 and 3-0 on Oct. 26. Freshman Jennifer Portell scored the lone goal against the Redhawks this season.
