The Missouri State field hockey team lost to Central Michigan Sunday afternoon, 4-1, in Mount Pleasant, Mich. in Mid-American Conference play. The loss drops the Bears to 1-15 for the season, 0-6 in the MAC. CMU improves to 5-8, 4-2 in the MAC.
Central Michigan went into halftime with a 2-0 lead with goals scored by Tara Schiltz unassisted at 7:12 and at 16:02 by Kim Erasmus with help from Pam Seufert. CMU scored first in the second half on a scramble in front of the net by Allyce Avery at 42:10 but Missouri State answered at 44:52 with a goal by senior Melissa Millin when she drove by the goalkeeper to put it in. Freshman Jennifer Portell was credited with the assist.
Goalkeeper Kim Kinsella allowed four goals and collected 14 saves to increase her season total to 177 with a save percentage of .797.
The Bears will be on the road to Kent State on Oct. 20 with a game time at 11 a.m. and at Ball State Oct. 21, game time also at 11 a.m. before returning home for Missouri State Homecoming the following weekend.
