Missouri State's Kristin Wolkey has been named this week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Wolkey led the Bears for the second straight week. The sophomore pulled in a seventh-place finish at the 5K Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo., clocking in at 17:47.70. She guided the Bears to a second-place team finish behind Harding University. There were 34 teams competing in the event and nearly 300 runners.

The Bears' cross country team will take a couple weeks off from competition before heading to Memphis, Tenn., to compete in the Twilight Classic on Saturday, Oct. 7. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8:10 p.m.
