The Missouri State field hockey team collected their first back-to-back wins since the 2003 season by defeating former NorPac rival Radford, 2-1, in double overtime Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Though Radford's Stephanie McLamb scored the first goal at 13:39, Bears senior Stephani Wehrman tied the game at 32:46 with an assist by sophomore Katherine Smith. It wasn't until the second overtime when freshman Melissa Lantz assisted Wehrman's second goal to win the game.
Goalkeeper Kim Kinsella added 18 more saves for MSU, pushing her total for the season to 48 with a .873 save percentage. As of Sept. 10, Kinsella was ranked 13th in the country in saves with 8.33 saves per game and 12th in the country with an .803 save percentage.
Radford outshot Missouri State, 23-13, and received more penalty corners than the Bears, 18-12.
The Bears improve to 2-3 on the season while Radford falls to 3-5.
The Bears stay on the road for an 11 a.m. Sunday match with Robert Morris in Pittsburgh.
