Biography

At Missouri State: Katherine Smith will use her experience as a forward to earn a starting position in 2007. In the 2006 season Smith played in 16 matches with one start. She recorded also two saves. As a freshman, Smith played in 14 matches with one start for the Bears. She also had five shots and recorded a defensive save in 2005.

Background: Smith came to Missouri State after being a three-year letterwinner in field hockey and a four-year letterwinner in softball at Bexley High in Ohio. As a senior, she helped lead the Lions to a 14-3-1 record in the conference. She started every game for the Lions as a senior, scoring 14 goals and delivering eight assists. Smith led the Lions in scoring and was named first team all-league, team captain, and MVP. In 2003, she started every game and scored nine goals with nine assists.

Personal: Smith was born April 15, 1987, in Flowood, Miss. She is the daughter of Jim and Susan Smith. Her twin sister, Kelly Smith, also played for the MSU field hockey team (2005-06).
