Missouri State’s women’s cross country team ran to a runner-up finish Saturday morning at the Missouri Southern State University Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo., behind the strength of four runners finishing among the top 26 in an event that featured 286 entries from 34 schools. It is the second runner-up finish for the Bears in as many tries this season.
Sophomore Kristin Wolkey once again paced the team with her second top 10 finish of the season, covering the 5K course in 17:47.7 to take seventh. Jamie Vest finished 15th overall in 18:16.8, and Chloe Key stopped the clock at 18:29.8, good for 22nd.
Senior Clarissa Codrington took 26th in a time of 18:37.8, and Emily Fletcher rounded out the team scoring for MSU, earning a 66th-place finish in 19:24.5.
The Bears will next be in action on Oct. 7 at the Memphis Twilight Classic in Memphis, Tenn. The race will start at 8:10 p.m.
