The Missouri State women’s cross country team competed at the NCAA Pre-Natinoals in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, in a meet that featured nearly 90 teams and 24 of the top 30 ranked teams in the NCAA.
Sophomore Kristin Wolkey lead the Bears with a time of 21:33 over the 6,000-meter race, to finish 79th overall. Sophomore Jamie Vest was the Bears’ second-best finisher, crossing the finish line in a time of 22:14. MSU’s remaining top-five finished in close proximity, with junior Chloe Key coming in at 22:25, senior Clarissa Codrington at 22:30, and junior Carrie Vestal at 22:32.
Missouri State will now set its sights on the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, held Saturday, Oct. 28, in Lincoln, Neb. The Bears finished second in the meet last season and have won four of the past five MVC Championships dating back to 2001.
