The Missouri State women’s soccer team couldn’t stop the University of Kansas’ offesnive attack as the Jayhawks defeated the Bears, 2-0, Wednesday night in Lawrence, Kan. Missouri State falls to 2-1 on the season and will return home Sunday, to play host to the University of Tennessee-Martin at 1 p.m.

Kansas freshman Jessica Bush got the Jayhawks on the board at the 14:52 mark, which would prove to be the game-winner for KU. The Bears took just two shots, with only one shot on goal in the first half of play.

Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week Allison Osmundson had the Bears’ lone shot on goal with just under five minutes to play in the half, but could not send it past KU goalkeeper Colleen Quinn.

Kansas would score again with just under seven minutes to play in the match, as two-time All-American Caroline Smith sent a shot into the net from 20 yards out, to put the Jayhawks up 2-0.

The Bears outcornered Kansas five to two, but had just six shots in the match with only three on goal to the Jayhawks’ 18 shots, including 12 on goal.

Missouri State goalkeeper Jackie Jasper (2-1) had 10 saves on the night, but took her first career loss in the net for the Bears.
