Missouri State freshman Meghan Cassady struck for two goals in the Bears 4-0 win at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, Sunday. The victory was the first for the Bears as Missouri State University and their second win of the season, improving to 2-0.
Dorothy Brown claimed the first-ever goal for Missouri State women's soccer, scoring just 1:12 into the match off a corner kick from Caroline Rooker to put the Bears up 1-0 early.
Cassady would score the Bears next two, taking an assist from Angela Parsons and putting it just past the UALR goalkeeper for her first career goal, sending Missouri State to the locker room with a 2-0 lead. Cassady's second goal of the day came at the 63:13 mark, giving the Bears a 3-0 advantage.
Freshman Allison Osmundson scored her second goal of the season on a break-away just 13 minutes later to give Missouri State the 4-0 victory.
Missouri State outshot the Trojans 19 to 6, with 14 shots on goal to UALR's six. The Bears also had seven corner kicks to the Trojan's two.
Freshman goalkeeper Jackie Jasper claimed the first shutout of her career, with six saves, as she moved to 2-0 on the season.
The Bears play at the University of Kansas, Wednesday at 5 p.m., before returning home to face the University of Tennessee-Martin, Sunday at 1 p.m.
